These terms cover what you can expect from Desk FT ("we", "us") and what we expect from you when you sign up and run a workspace. Plain English first — if anything here is unclear, write to [email protected] and we'll explain.
Accepting these terms
By creating an account or signing into Desk FT you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. If you're using Desk FT on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have the authority to bind that organisation to these terms.
Who can use Desk FT
- You need to be at least 16 years old.
- Desk FT is built for running a business with clients. Personal-only use is fine too, but the feature set is shaped around small-business workflows.
- You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. If you think someone else is using your account, write to us and we'll help lock it down.
Your workspaces, your data
- You own your content. Anything you or your clients put into a workspace — timeline posts, vault files, form submissions, checklist items, links, branding — stays yours. We don't claim ownership of it and we don't use it to train anything or sell it.
- You're responsible for it. You confirm you have the right to upload and share the content you put into Desk FT, including any personal information about your clients. If a client gives you their documents to keep in their desk, it's on you to handle that information lawfully under the privacy laws that apply where you operate.
- We need a licence to run the service. You grant us a limited, worldwide licence to host, copy, transmit and display your content for the sole purpose of providing Desk FT to you and to the workspace members you invite. That's it.
- Export and delete. You can export your workspace content or delete your account at any time — see the privacy policy for details and timelines.
Acceptable use
Don't use Desk FT to do any of the following:
- Break the law, infringe someone else's rights, or harass anyone.
- Upload malware, attempt to compromise the service, probe its security without permission, or interfere with other users' workspaces.
- Send spam, bulk unsolicited messages, or use the platform to scrape or resell access.
- Host content that's illegal where the operator or the storage provider is based — including content promoting violence or anything that would expose the service to legal liability.
- Misrepresent yourself or impersonate someone else when inviting clients into your workspace.
We may suspend or remove content or accounts that violate these rules. Where reasonable we'll tell you what went wrong so you can fix it.
What we provide, and what we don't promise
We work to keep Desk FT available, secure, and improving over time. That said:
- Desk FT is provided as-is, on a best-effort basis, without any warranty of uninterrupted service, error-free operation, or fitness for a specific purpose.
- The product is in active development. Features may change, get renamed, or be removed; we try to avoid breaking things people rely on, and where reasonable we'll give notice.
- You're responsible for keeping your own backup of anything irreplaceable. Use the export feature if your workspace contains content you can't afford to lose.
Subscription and billing
- Free tier (permanent). 1 workspace, 2 desks, every module, full functionality. No card, no expiry.
- Desk FT Pro. Lifts the caps to 5 workspaces and 10 desks per workspace, with 1 GB of file storage per account. Priced at CAD $19.99 per month, billed as an auto-renewing subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Auto-renewal and cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically each month at the then-current price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancellation is handled by the store: go to your Apple ID subscriptions on iOS, or your Google Play subscriptions on Android. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
- Refunds. All payments are processed by Apple or Google, who handle refunds under their own policies (Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com; Google: support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479637). We do not process refunds directly. Statutory consumer-protection rights in your jurisdiction still apply where applicable and override anything in this section.
- Price changes. If we change the subscription price for new subscribers, existing subscribers stay on the price they signed up at unless and until we give at least 30 days notice in-app or by email. If you don't agree to the new price, cancel before it takes effect.
- Plan caps. The caps above are the current limits and may change. If we ever reduce them in a way that affects you, we'll give at least 30 days notice and an opportunity to export your data before any restriction applies.
- Free tier commitment. We intend to keep a free tier available indefinitely. If we ever discontinue free use entirely, we'll give at least 60 days notice and provide an export of your workspace content before access ends.
Third-party services
Desk FT runs on top of services from Supabase, Google (Firebase), and Apple. Your use of Desk FT is also subject to those providers' terms where they apply — see the privacy policy for details. Outages or changes on their side may affect Desk FT.
Suspension and termination
- You can stop using Desk FT at any time. Deleting your account removes your workspace data within 30 days (backups may persist up to 90 days).
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, abuse the service, or expose us to legal risk. Where the issue is fixable we'll usually reach out first.
- If we shut down the product entirely, we'll give reasonable advance notice and a way to export your content.
Content takedowns
If you believe content stored in a Desk FT workspace infringes your copyright, trademark, or other rights, write to [email protected] with:
- Identification of the work you say is infringed and where the allegedly infringing content sits in Desk FT (workspace name or URL if known).
- Your contact details (name, email, postal address).
- A statement, in good faith, that you believe the use is not authorised by the rightsholder, their agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorised to act on the rightsholder's behalf.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We'll review valid notices and, where appropriate, remove the content and notify the workspace owner. Workspace owners may submit a counter-notice using the same address. Accounts associated with repeat infringement will be suspended or terminated.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Desk FT, its operator, contractors, and service providers from any third-party claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Content you or your invited workspace members upload, store, or share through Desk FT;
- Your use of the service in violation of these terms or applicable law;
- Your handling of personal information about your clients, including any failure to obtain consent or to comply with privacy laws where you operate;
- Any dispute between you and a workspace member or client.
We'll let you know promptly of any claim covered by this section and cooperate reasonably in its defence. You may not settle any claim in a way that imposes obligations on us without our prior written consent.
Events outside our control
Desk FT depends on infrastructure provided by third parties (Supabase, Apple, Google, RevenueCat) and on the public internet. We aren't liable for interruptions, data loss, or delays caused by events outside our reasonable control — including provider outages, network failures, natural disasters, power outages, government action, or labour disputes. Where reasonable we'll communicate the issue, work toward restoration, and prioritise the integrity of your data over the speed of recovery.
Apple App Store and Google Play
When you obtain Desk FT through the Apple App Store, additional Apple-required terms apply on top of these terms:
- These terms are between you and the operator of Desk FT, not Apple. Apple has no responsibility for the app or its contents.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Desk FT.
- In the event the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, who will refund the purchase price (subscription fees are governed by section 06 above). Beyond that, to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation in respect of the app.
- Any claims relating to the app — including product liability, claims that the app fails to conform to applicable legal or regulatory requirements, and claims arising under consumer-protection law — are between you and the operator, not Apple.
- If a third party claims that the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual-property rights, the operator (not Apple) will handle the claim.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms in respect of the app, and may enforce them against you.
When you obtain Desk FT through Google Play, Google's Play Terms of Service also apply, and Google is not a party to these terms.
Liability
To the extent allowed by law, Desk FT, its operator, and its providers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses arising from your use of the service — including lost profits, lost data, lost business opportunities, lost client relationships, or business interruption. Our total liability to you for any claim is capped at the greater of CAD $100 or the amount you've paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law (for example, for gross negligence, fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or non-waivable consumer-protection rights in your jurisdiction).
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The courts located in Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms or your use of Desk FT, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws in your jurisdiction require otherwise.
Before starting any formal dispute, please write to [email protected] so we can try to resolve it directly — in most cases that's faster for everyone.
Changes to these terms
If we change anything material we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where reasonable, notify active accounts in-app or by email. Continued use of Desk FT after the change means you accept the new terms. If you don't agree to a material change, your remedy is to stop using the service and, if applicable, cancel your subscription through the store before the change takes effect.
